Science lesson 95

Today we learned about the Soyuz rocket spacecraft. It has made 140 flights. It was designed for the soviet space program. It was launched on a Soyuz rocket from Kazakhstan. Between the 2011 retirement of the space shuttle. The Soyuz served as the only means to make crewed space flights and to reach the International Space Station, for which it remains heavily used. The rocket has big thrustors to make it land softer. They also have a heat shield so it will not burn to a crisp. It has manual flying if needed and a parachute just in case.

What problems did the spacecraft designers have to solve? The problem the designers had to solve was to be able to have the rocket land softer; also keep the thruster from blowing up. They fixed the thruster by putting the heatshields under by the thruster so they would not blow. The parachute helps them land softer and slower.
