History lesson 120

The first invention I learned about this week was the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone after sending multiple signals over one line. The telephone allows people to have conversations and talk over thousands of miles away. Alexander put on live demonstrations and made the Bell Systems of phone companies. Cellular phone technology emerged as a result of Bell Labs. It then lead to modern telecom companies.

The second invention I learned about this week the carpet sweeper. Melville Bissell invented the carpet sweeper during the recession in 1876. The carpet sweeper made it very easy to clean almost every carpet quietly. Bissell used door to door sales people to sell his sweepers. Bissell’s wife took carpet sweepers international. The carpet sweeper made the electric vacuum possible.

The third invention I learned about his week was the phonograph. Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877 and became a over night celebrity. This machine allows you to record music and play it back. Bell improved the design. Musical arts took advantage of it and sold records. This invention led to the radio and the modern music industry.

The fourth invention I learned about this week was the Motion picture. Edward Muybridge invented motion pictures when photographing Stanford’s running horse on 20+ cameras. The cameras allow us to create spectacular entertaining films which are a from of art. This invention aloud us to create Hollywood.

The most interesting thing I learned about this week was the phonograph. This was cool because this guy made his own with some parts from a hardware store. Proving that it did work like they advertised. That was a interesting fact I learned this week.
