The past 2 weeks we have been reading a book called the railway children. This book has a lot of surprises and adventures in it. The book mostly focus on three kids. The oldest kid is Roberta, she supports here mother and helps around the house. She tries to keep everyone happy during rough times. Then there is Peter. He is the only boy in the family. Peter’s hobbies are trains and anything to do with trains. The youngest one in the family is Phyllis. She tries to keep up with the other children but some times she falls short. Phyllis often things childish things. Now you know about the main characters of the story.
The story starts in London. The family does well and has a nice house. After the first chapter the family’s father disappears. The family is then forced to live out in the country by a railway. The house is called Three Chimneys. Once at the house the mother starts to write poetry for a living. The children are then left to adventure on there own. In the later chapters Peter starts to still coal for the family. The girls find out and play along. The station master then finds out and lets peter only keep the coal he stole. Later the mother gets sick and Roberta had to treat her.
One of the most interesting things is the children stop a train from crashing. Trees and rocks start to fall on the railway the children then make red flags to flag down the train. At the end of that week the kids get medals for stopping the train. Finally you find out where the father has been for the whole book. The fathers has been in prison. The children then prove that there father did nothing wrong. Finally the children met back up with there father and that is how the book ends.
