Explain how the Roman military was organized
Rome began as a group of farmers and refugees living together in a city. Over time, Rome began to get attacked. So Rome had to develop its military into a fight force. Rome made the most menacing military the ancient world has every seen. When ever a war would occur, all land owning citizens were required to repot to the Field Of Mars. All wars were usually done in a few days. If the wars lasted a extended period of time the soldiers would be payed.
Rome’s military was known for its legions. Every legion had 4200 soldiers, divided into 4 different types. The soldiers were organized into maniples. Each maniples had a 120 soldiers. I hope you enjoyed this weeks essay about Romans military.
