Science lesson 140

There are two ways to increase air pressure. Number one, by increasing the quantity of air molecules, kind of like pumping air into a flat tire. Number two, by increasing the heat energy. The wind is moving air. The vertical motion of air is called updrafts. Some winds can be very hazardous such as tornadoes, hurricanes or tsunamis.

Wind is a natural movement of air of any speed, the fastest ever recorded being 252 mph. A strong wind speed is known as a gale. These winds can be from 32 to 63 miles per hour. Most of the time the wind is totally harmless, however, some winds can cause a great deal of destruction, hurricanes and tornadoes are very good examples. Tornadoes can have winds as high as 73-206 mph, and hurricanes have wind speeds of 74-156 mph, being outdoors for either of them is extremely dangerous. Wind is a major factor in determining weather and climate, therefore, it is very important. I hope you like my essay.
