Write a 150 word article on the earth’s atmosphere
The six layers of the atmosphere are the stratosphere, troposphere, thermosphere, lithosphere, exosphere, and mesosphere. The troposphere is the bottom layer of the atmosphere. It is there that clouds and lightning can happen. Where the troposphere ends, and the stratosphere starts is called the tropopause.
The stratosphere is the second layer of the atmosphere. You can see the whole Earth from this layer. Joseph Kittinger is a pilot who jumped from 102,800 feet from Earth. Felix Baumgartner passed Kittinger’s world record at 127,852 feet. Once the stratosphere ends, and the mesosphere begins is called the stratopause.
The mesosphere is the third layer of the atmosphere, and it is quit cold at temperatures of -120F. Where the mesosphere ends and the thermosphere starts is called the mesopause. The fourth layer of the atmosphere is the thermosphere. I don’t know if you know that the International Space Station (ISS) orbits the Earth and is in the thermosphere.
The lithosphere is in the thermosphere, and it is part of the Earth’s crust. Where the thermosphere ends, and the exosphere starts is called the exosphere. The exosphere is the highest layer of the atmosphere and weather balloons, and satellites can’t even reach the exosphere because it is so far away. I hope you enjoy my essay.
