Science lesson 160

How meteorologists forecast the weather.

Meteorologists can predict the weather by a weather balloon. The meteorologists launch the weather balloons 2 times a day. That will sample the atmosphere from the surface of earth all the way to about 100,000 feet. The balloon carries a device called a radiosonde. Its a light weight device that gathers the info that they need to predict weather and measure the temperature. The balloon transmits the data where it gets put in a computer and transfers it to the weather team. They usually start their day 2 to 3 hours before the news cast so they can get a accurate forecast. To predict a accurate forecast you first need to have a clear understanding of what’s going on, then they forecast on some paper. After they make their computer weather graphics, they make them in a order that tells us what the weather story for the day is. Last but not least they go to the green screen and go live on your daily news. They also have a TV in front of them so they can see where to point to, because if they did not have this they would just point somewhere random, which all they would see is a green screen. With a little magic they can make it look good. I hope you enjoyed my essay.
