History lesson 155

Write a paper on this week’s history, giving a summary on Roman food and entertainment

Farming was very big in the Rome empire. Rome had a lot of efficient farms at the time. This trend later spread through the majority of Europe. These farms were for the city nine times out of ten as were most things in Rome. Most roman citizens lived in the city therefore they relied on those who lived out in the country who could farm. People envied those who could live in the country but it was a tough life especially for slaves. Most houses in Rome didn’t have kitchens because it took up to much space and was dangerous. People who didn’t have kitchen got hot food from street vendors. Rich people were the only ones who had kitchens because there houses were big enough. The few roman kitchens did not have chimneys so it was very smoky. Common utensils were knives, pottery, mortar and pestles, strainers, and bronze pots. Very common meals included meat, herbs and veggies while poor people ate porridge, stew and bread. I hope you enjoyed my essay and thank you for reading.
