What park or landscape did you observe and study? (describe the features (hardscape and landscape) in a short paragraph)
The landscape that I observed and study was my local park. The landscape was very open and allows for many actives for the kids to play and adults to walk. There is a lot of forest around the park which allows for a private area. There is a lot of shrubs and different plants all around. There are forests and pathways through out the park to ride your bike on. Not to forget but the park has three play grounds for little kids and a baseball field.
Did the landscape use an open space approach or separate smaller spaces?
The park used a wide open approach much rather than separate smaller spaces. The park is very wide for many people to have picnics, play, ride bikes, and walk. There are a couple smaller places up a hill for different uses.
Describe the integration of any pedestrian pathways, vehicular trails or parking, spaces for recreation, eating or sitting. Describe the utility and aesthetic quality of this design.
The park has three different ways to get to the park. Two of them you have a parking lot you pull in and walk around the park. The other way is to walk this path from the village to the park on a little road.
How did the design enhance safety, shelter and comfort considerations?
The park has railings for areas that need them. They have trash cans for litter and other junk. It is really friendly for a lot of reasons. One of the reasons is that there is very few steps for older people that can’t handle them. They also have wheel chair ramps if need.
What appears to be the focal point?
The focal point of the park has to be the 9 mile river that goes through it. There are areas for you to fish our just enjoy the view. It is a very nice area that the park is in. You can see a lot and do a lot.
How would you improve the landscape design?
I would not improve any thing in the park. The park was established in 1936 so there is not much to improve. It has evolved with the time but still keeps that small town cute feel. I hope you enjoyed my essay for the week. Thank you for reading.
