Pepin the Short
To start of with when Charles Martel died in 741, his sons Pepin the short and Carloman split the kingdom. Pepin was a fantastic general. He was able to see potential dangers and then plan for them as needed. Pepin was able to adapt the battlefield and use his skills as a administrator to become a great mayor. Pepin appointed Childeric III as king, but eventually became the sole ruler of France himself. Pepin was then crowned as king by Pope Zachery. The Pope also crowned both of Pepin’s sons, Charles and Carloman. Pepin died in 768 in a military campaign. Well not as impressive or as remembered as other people. Pepin was still a great leader and has accomplished a lot of things like spread the Frankish Church in Germany and expand Frankish territory to include Aquitaine. I hope you like my essay.
