Knighthood

First let’s start of with “Knight” was given to a person honored by a king or monarch for a service usually fighting. Originally, knights were mounted solders, and were consider lesser nobles. Eventually, knights simply became honored people, and they were even recognized for great deeds outside the military sometimes.

In the middle ages, knighthood was part of two systems. The feudal systems hierarchy. Or the service of the kings army. The idea of warriors on horseback came from the franks after the fall of Rome and was expanded by Charlemagne. Any rider equipped with armor, was considered a knight in early times. Eventually, knighthood became a more defined respected position under the feudal system. Knights were lower class noblemen, and although they rode horses in battle, they were distinct from the cavalry.

When the knights were not fighting they would live in castles and large houses. Knights pursued the value of “faith, hope, charity, justice, strength, moderation, and loyalty. I hope you liked my essay. Thank you for reading.
