The longest work of fiction is usally a novel. Unlike novellas, novels can contain multiple conflicts. Novels typically have multiple plot points and are fairly long. Novels narrate tales of imaginary people and events. They are the most widespreed and consequently the longest genre of fiction.
Short stories are written in verse, just like novels. Considering the title, a lot more occurs in a shorter amount of time during the opening, rising action, climax, etc. Large-scale dynamic elements are used in short stories, but not as much as in novels. There is no word limit for short stories.
