English 1:Autobiography lesson 10

Writing assignment, 500 words: “What are three stories in my life that I would have to include in my autobiography?”

My first story would be my trip to Florida. This trip is the worst one I have ever been on. To start off, we live in NY and were going down for a wedding. We left at 4am, which wasn’t too bad, but after about 2pm, that’s when it got bad. At 2 we got stuck in traffic for about 3 hours. So when we got out of the jam, it was about 5, and we were in North Carolina. We got to South Carolina about 7:30-8:00; we pulled off to get a hotel, but that one was all filled up. So we keep driving for about half an hour. We pull off again and check about 5 hotels, and they are all booked up. So we get back in the car and drive for about another hour. We get off, and the hotels are all booked up again. My dad talked to the lady at the front desk, and she told us that most of the hotels in South Carolina were booked up for the week.

So on the way out of that hotel it was probably about 10:00, and my dad walked through a pit in the grass and fell and broke his ankle. My dad sprained it running about a month before the trip, and that just made it so much worse. So he gets in the car and tells us about the hotel and his ankle, so we figure out that we will drive to Georgia since it’s about another hour of driving. So my dad has to drive with his other foot because my mom fell asleep in the back. My brother is sitting in the front seat, helping him drive through the dark.

We make it into Georgia and finally stop at a hotel and ask about the rooms, but nope, all booked up too. By now it’s 11:00, and we just want to get out of the car and sleep, but half of Georgia’s hotels are all booked up. So we just drive till we hit Florida. We make it on I-4 and get stuck in even more traffic. We wait and wait; after about 2 hours, the jam clears. So we still have another hour and a half till we get there. We drive and drive, and finally we get to the Airbnb, and it’s 3:00 in the morning. We unpack the car and go to sleep. It ended up being a 23-hour drive even though it’s supposed to be a 17-and-a-half-hour drive.

My second story is a lot shorter. It starts off with my brother and me with our grandpa. We are in the car going to Bass Pro. My grandpa has to pick up some fishing gear. So we get there, and we go to the knives, and he tells us to pick out what we each like. So we pick them out, and he gets them for us. The story doesn’t sound that exciting, but they were my brother’s and my first knives we ever got. I still have them to this day.

My last story would have to be learning to ski with my dad and my brother. My dad and his family have skied since forever. So my dad was teaching my brother and me how to ski. We started off on two skis, and that went pretty easily. So a few days later, we tried one ski, and that went even better. So that day he teaches us how to ski on our bare feet. We skied that day for about 5 hours. We had to stop and refill the boat. Now my brother and I can ski on two skis, one ski, a kneeboard, a wakeboard, and barefoot. We all ski every summer at our lake house.

Well, those are 3 stories that would be in my autobiography. There would still be a lot more to put in, but those are the three I chose to write about today. I would like to say thank you for reading my essay. Also, I look forward to reading your stories.
