Topic 1: “What are three goals that I am committing to achieve by age 70? Why?” (250 words)
These are the three most important goals I would like to accomplish by age 70: owning my home while being debt-free, retiring, and having full control over my lifestyle. Along with these goals, I would also like to be comfortable, be financially well set, and be in as good health as possible so that I can live my life that I worked so hard for.
First, I want to be debt-free and own my home because that would let me live a stress-free life. Because I am debt-free, I will not have to worry about payments or bills; all I would have to do is pay my regular bills. While being debt-free is great, it also allows you to have extra money to save or buy the things you enjoy, like for example hobbies. Because I won’t have to worry about debt payments, I can live without the stress of unnecessary bills.
Second, I want to retire early. I do not want to spend my entire life working at a desk or doing whatever my boss asks of me for hours at a time. Instead, I want to enjoy my life with friends and family. But for that to be possible, I would need spare time, which is why I want to retire early. To retire early, I may just have to work a little harder when younger to enjoy life longer when older.
Third, I want to have full control over my life and the things I do. Being my own boss gives me the independence that I want. Being my own boss also allows me not to conform to other people’s schedules or demands; instead, it allows me to control my days the way I want. Along with this, I want to be able to look after myself for the rest of my life; therefore, I have to remain as healthy as possible so that I can carry on with normal life without having constant help.
These three goals together mean that by the time I am 70, I will be living from the success of my business and will not have to worry about anything.
Topic 2: “How will owning my own business increase the likelihood that I will attain them?” (250 words)
When I own my business, it will almost guarantee that all three goals will be met by my 70s. First of all, it would make me achieve my goal of being debt-free and owning my own home, as my paycheck would depend on me instead of being controlled by someone else’s budget. If I were to make more money than I do now, I would be able to save more, buy my house, and be debt-free. I would also be in better control of my finances and have more disposable income from a successful business instead of a typical 9 to 5 job.
Next, it would also increase my chance of retiring early because if I am willing to work hard when I am young, it will be highly possible for me to build a company big enough to retire early. Owning my business would provide me with the money to live a long and enjoyable life. This may be a difficult task at the beginning, but it is something that gives me a lifelong retirement.
Lastly, my business will help me achieve my final goals, which are to control my lifestyle and maintain my health and independence. I will be able to do this because I will be able to attend all of my business meetings, have specific hours when I can leave the company, and engage in the activities I want to do, like exercising. I will be able to manage my own schedule instead of an employer’s and be fit and healthy while doing so, making myself as independent as possible. With my business, I will be able to meet my goals by age 70.
