Writing assignment: 500 words on this topic: “Was Washington’s view of the future also my view of the future?”
Washington’s view of the future was many things. From education, equality, economic progress, and much more, the question is, “Is this also my view of the future?” My answer is yes. Washington’s view is also my view, but Washington’s view of everything almost came true long after he died.
Washington’s view was bright and optimistic for the U.S. I think that, like me and everybody else, he wants progress for the U.S. His view of the future focused on progress for blacks through education and opportunity. All of these came true. Whether that be equal rights or equal education. Now, many legal rights have been established for Black Americans (14th Amendment and (Brown v. Board of Education) these are just two out of a lot of cases won for these Americans. Washington’s goal of progress for black’s was achieved in many ways, as they gained legal rights and greater access to education and a place in the economy.
My view of the future is that things will get easier. But don’t think we’re out of the woods yet. Between Covid, wars, the state of the economy, and much more, life has been stressful and difficult for everyone around the globe. But I think as time goes on things will progress way past what Washington ever dreamed of.
I think predictions can be good and bad. These predictions from Washington and I are both positive. We both hope for a better future than we had. But predictions can’t mean you can see everything coming. Washington probably never thought WWI and WWII would ever be a thing. I never thought I would see a global pandemic or wars. My prediction and Washington’s are the same: the future will be a better and brighter place for everyone.
