When reading the book How to Win Friends and Influence People a lot of techniques I never read about showed up. There were definitely quite a few techniques that would be hard for me to learn. Whether that be don’t criticize, condemn, complain, give honest answers, give sincere appreciation, smile, never say their wrong, be a good listener, let the other person talk most, and much more.
The hardest technique in this book for me to learn so far would have to be talking in terms of the other person’s interests. You might think that this is easy but not really. When you talk to another person you try to talk about things you have in common, but when you have to talk to them about their interests, which mostly likely are not going to be your interests. You are stuck listening, nodding, and most importantly learning. But by doing this you can learn what they like and you can keep them happy by listening.
One more hard technique to learn is always smile. You once again might not think this is that hard but if you are having a bad or tough day it can be the hardest thing. By always smiling you will constantly seem interested and happy to be there. I’m pretty sure you’ve met someone who wasn’t smiling, and you might have thought they were annoyed to be there or didn’t want to talk to you. By always smiling you can get very ahead in life.
With learning these techniques I can get much further ahead in life and do better with my business. After reading and learning these techniques, I have realized how important the small things are. By just smiling or asking a question, you can have a completely different conversation and maybe even a new customer. With all the skills in this book I can improve sales, marketing, and everything else in my business.
